Orange~Infused London Fog

Today is grey and brisk.
I love spring with all its clean air, temperamental weather, and lively activities.
In honor of this day, in an attempt to be mindful of accepting and embracing each day (and me) as it is, I made a drink to celebrate all that this day has to offer.
I chose Earl Grey tea to celebrate the cozy sky; orange-infusion to capture the warm sun peeking through the clouds, and rich vanilla to invite my soul to sing (because that's just what vanilla does).
Here's how I made it:

Brew 2 Earl Grey/Lady Grey tea bags in 1 cup of boiling water for 5 mins. Remove tea bags, squeeze out tea, and toss the tea bags into a saucepan with 1 cup of milk*, zest of 1 orange (in a loose-tea infuser), a splash of vanilla extract, and 2 tsp. of sugar**. DO NOT BOIL. Place over medium heat until steamy, then reduce the heat a little and infuse for 3-5 mins (the orange should penetrate the air above the pot). Remove tea bags and strainer and pour milk into the mug with the tea. Feel free to whip it up with a frother if you have one, or enjoy as a simple and smooth beverage (if frothing, remember to use a larger mug). You can also chill it and enjoy it while relaxing on a hot day!

Thrifty-Trick:
Use the orange juice from and the used orange peel in a batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies, and have both for a warming snack that feels like a hug for your tummy! We all need a little extra love sometimes. ;-)

Enjoy!

Love,
Laney

*Use almond milk for dairy-free option!
**Use 1 tsp. stevia to make it sugar-free!
