The Art of The Everyday

I think "art", in its broadest sense, {a manifestation of something intangible (no matter the medium)}, is how we humans tend to make things good and beautiful.

Why not extend this title to our humble daily necessities?
Why not elevate the daily routines into something more like a ritual?
Something a little more sacred?
A little more human?

Since I adopted this mindset, everything that was once dreaded and mundane has become comforting and supporting. I look forward to waking up in the morning for time to pray, exercise, and meditate. It makes bedtime sweet to await morning with confident hope and ardent joy.

So find something mundane and every day and make it an art form.

{If you do it every day, you might as well make the most of it and be proud of yourself!}

So a bit more about art.

Art is all about sensational motion and sensational rest. Achieving a balance of this is what separates a sketch from a masterpiece and a good meal from a feast.

Visual art obviously is narrowed to what we can see (visual motion and visual rest), and though much of fashion is visual, much of it also can be expressed through texture and thus also should appeal to our sense of touch.

On both accounts, balance is what should be striven for above all other criteria, and every other style or look can be achieved with the sub-categories.
{More on next Monday!}

Balance is composed of warm and cool, masculine and feminine, quiet and loud; bold and subtle, busy and calm, wild and elegant.

You always have the time and energy to wish you're looking and acting your best, so why not spend some of that time and energy on truly making yourself into your best?

What better way to feel beautiful, confident, and sexy than to feel like you and your life are a piece of art?!

Think of something that you dread doing but know that you have to. Or a habit that you have always liked the idea of but never gotten past the first few days.

What could you do to make it more enjoyable?

What workout do you love doing and can't wait to get out of bed for?
What favorite meal would you cook every night and happily never buy take-out again?
What person in your life could you talk to every few weeks so that you quit feeling overwhelmed?

Figure out what you love and make those things priorities!
Otherwise, you're just sabotaging yourself and being a hope-and-joy-thief to yourself!!
(Umm... we all know those people... don't be one of them! We also all know that life is hard enough without everyone making it harder for themselves. So quit it!).

You deserve your best life.
Being human, you deserve your best life with all the human-ness possible, with all the beauty and mess and goodness that goes with it.
Cut out the stuff that makes you feel enslaved to it, take your new sense of rightful freedom, throw in some balance (which is possible, mathematically and realistically speaking), and finally, BE HAPPY!!

I love you and wish you the world.

Love,
Laney <3
