Start with the Heart
My last post centered on how we women tend to sabotage ourselves out of joyful and fulfilling lives by running ourselves into the ground under the guise of "devotion" or "drive".
This post is the first of many to guide my oh-so-few, darling readers, and myself through taking a look at ourselves and figuring out how we can improve the quality of our lives.
It starts with loving ourselves.
It starts with looking at our hearts, in whatever fresh or weary state they are in, and saying, "I love you".
The fact of the matter is that if you want a real change, then you have to work from the inside out (or the bottom up). Otherwise, you're just putting a shmear over the cracks and holes so that you can paint over them, and you're not actually addressing the issues that are holding you back. For all my fellow HGTV lovers out there, it's like when you ignore the foundation problems and just make the house look pretty, even though it is structurally unsound. What happens when you do this? Well, if you let it sit there long enough, the walls start to crack, the windows won't open, the floor sags, and eventually, the house falls. Do you want your heart to be like a house with a foundation problem?
I didn't think so!
So let's dig up underneath and take a long look to assess the problem.
What hurts are causing your walls to crack? What disappointments are causing your floor to sag? Why won't your windows open?
Even if you only see a couple thing this first time, that's ok. Odds are good that there are a whole lot more down there, so give yourself a little grace to mull it over for the next week or so, and write down the causes that come to mind.
The goal here is to build awareness and get a good hold on what counter-productive thoughts are causing you to feel like your heart is cracking and won't open.
Your heart needs some fresh air! Your heart needs someone to listen to the issues so that they can come up with a plan to fix them.
You are on this earth to live the brightest, best, most beautiful life that you can imagine, and then SO much more!!
So set yourself up for success from wherever you are.
Action Step 1: Listen to your heart and develop a sensitivity to understanding what makes your heart beat and what makes is stop.
Happy Listening, my darlings!
Love,
Laney
