A Fresh Start
"I want to come out of this quarantine a better version of myself: stronger, happier, lovelier. To do this, I need to pick myself up from this school year, enjoy the successes, let go of the weirdness and the mistakes and the discomfort, and start fresh."
Finals week is over, I am now a Junior in college, and a Summer unlike any other is inching closer.
In this strange time, it may seem odd to plan or organize or project, but to me, this seems like the perfect time to harness my creative energy and wrap my mind around accomplishing dreams that once seemed impossible.
I am taking this time to delve deeper into myself than ever before.
I want to come out of this quarantine a better version of myself: stronger, happier, lovelier.
To do this, I need to pick myself up from this school year, enjoy the successes, let go of the weirdness and the mistakes and the discomfort, and start fresh.
Step 1:
Clean Out the Junk
You won't know where you're going if you are always looking behind you, tripping over stacks of stuff, or staring at a blurry mirror.
So be in the present, clean up and clear out the mental and material junk, so that you can focus on what you can do, what you want to do, and what you love to do.
If you don't use it monthly, love it and would feel empty or disconnected without it, or want it to make life a little simpler, then it doesn't deserve to be a part of your one big and beautiful life. It doesn't deserve the shelf space, the headspace, or the time it takes to deal with in the reg.
Step 2:
Visualize the Purpose
What's your Why-Power?
What's that project you want done?
What has been on your to-do list for the past three years?
ten years?
twenty years?
What have you been "promising" yourself that you'll do eventually, but never do, thus lying to yourself and subconsciously convincing yourself that you are untrustworthy?
What does your soul crave?
What are those things that you ignore that your mind and body are telling you that you need?
You deserve to boldly live the life you love, not meekly live the life you think you've been dealt.
The universe is not trying to attack you with failure and misery.
The universe is big and beautiful and the reason that you feel like your life is not big and beautiful is that you sabotage yourself every day, several times.
You deserve better.
You and the life you live should reflect the goodness and truth and beauty of the One who created you - just like your children, your art, and your best work reflects the goodness, truth, and beauty in you.
Step 3:
Just Do It
Albert Einstein once said, "We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them".
So, it's your life, what are you going to do with it?
Are you going to keep thinking in the same way that got you to where you didn't want to go?
Or are you going to get outside of yourself, use your imagination to go beyond the reality that surrounds you, and find a way to create the life you love?
Your thoughts become words; your words become actions; your actions become habits, your and habits become reality.
If you want to change your reality, then go to the root of it and change your thoughts!
Make a list of the first things that come to mind when you imagine your biggest and most beautiful life.
Now for each of those, make a list of the first five things that come to mind about it.
(It will probably be a list of all the reasons why you don't have it yet, or subconsciously think that it's bad, or how you feel powerless).
Are those things true? Have you really tried?
Did you know what you were doing the first time you tried? Of course not! And that's ok. The problem is that you probably quit after that first time.
Now is the time to pick up your beautiful self and try again.
Kick yourself in the pants if you have to, but stop sabotaging yourself.
You deserve the best & biggest & most beautiful life that you can imagine!
So just do it.
Love,
Laney <3
