March 18th ~ The Ideas
March 18th
Everyone is waiting in silent anticipation to know whether or not COVID19 will make history or just go away. No one knows and everyone is waiting.
Yet waiting, dear friends, is not a void.
There is a difference between waiting and wasting time.
Indeed, waiting is like making a greenhouse, a small biome that nurtures what is planted and bursts with life.
That is what waiting is, should we choose to accept.
My mind immediately goes to asking my self: “How can I make this biome the most flourishing yet?”
Here are my ideas:
- Seek out the beauty in everything. I have found that this COVID19 thing is quite dark in my mind, making me more opposed to seeing the beauty and goodness that is still budding forth on every twig and limb. It would be a shame to miss it all just because we’re too wrapped up in ourselves. Bird Songs ~ Morning Walks ~ Hot Coffee ~ Daffodilies ~ Little Sisters ~ Family Nights These are all too good to miss.
- Pursue happiness through hobbies. The opposite side of seeking beauty in everything is that sometimes you need a break from ‘everything’ or at least some way to recharge so that we can sustain the many gifts of self that this time calls for. (There are so many ways for us to give of ourselves, but that must be a story for another time). So I am carving out a chunk of quiet morning time to delve into writing, reading, studying, painting, playing, etc. I won’t hit everything every morning, but doing a selection from the feast of delight above will encourage me to be joyful.
- Make everything simple. Life is too short, this season is too stressful, and people are too beautiful to spend our ‘self-quarantine’ grumpy and overwhelmed. Let the little stuff go; breath deeply; gaze into someone’s eye; lose yourself in a book; be a better friend to those in your immediate family; thank God that you have an immediate family; watch the sunrise; enjoy your coffee; play a game; cook a delicious dinner w/ 5 ingredients. The possibilities are endless and all of them do not need to be over-worked or over-complicated to make them worthwhile. They are already good and beautiful in themselves.
Breath, love, and live w/ joy!
Love,
Laney
